Gerrard has been linked with a move to Celtic after hinting that he was leaving MLS in the near future.
Owen Coyle has backed Steven Gerrard to be a success at Celtic if he does end up completing a sensational move to Parkhead in the future, the Daily Record reports..

The Record reports that some bookmakers have made the Hoops the favourites to become the legendary midfielder's next club after he dropped a major hint on his Instagram page that he is set to leave LA Galaxy and MLS in the near future.
And Coyle , who managed Houston Dynamo between December 2014 and May 2016 suggested that Brendan Rodgers would not regret bringing the former England captain to the Scottish Premiership.
"Obviously Brendan and Stevie worked together at Liverpool so they know exactly how each other thinks and how they work," he said, as reported by the Record.
"He's a proper football person he loves the game, obviously loves Liverpool and of course it's well documented that his other team was Glasgow Celtic.Whether joining Celtic is viable, only time will tell. But what I do know is that he is an outstanding professional and if he wants to continue playing then he’s going to do somebody a very good turn."
Though Coyle believes that Celtic should make a move, there may be some Bhoys supporters who are slightly less convinced about bringing the 36-year-old to the club.
Gerrard's quality is undeniable, but there will be question marks about how long he will continue playing for. And with the current Celtic midfield inspiring the side clear at the top of the domestic table, his presence may not add too much to their fortunes on the pitch.
However, if the side remain in Europe beyond Christmas, his experience may perhaps help them extend their journey even further. .
